Painting Produce in Watercolor
2 Saturdays – April 11th & 18th

In this 2 week introductory course, participants will learn a unique approach to watercolor, intended to alleviate the frustration that many experience when learning this beautiful yet challenging medium.

The class will practice basic drawing in addition to watercolor technique, with a focus on strengthening one’s observational skills while learning a step by step layering process that trains the artist to see value and color.

Our unifying subject will be seasonal produce – fruits, veggies and herbs, that we will render from life. These subjects are great for beginners and experienced watercolor painters alike; their organic shapes make them forgiving drawing subjects, but their beauty can be a muse for life.

All experience levels welcome and all materials provided.

Flora & Fauna in Watercolor
6 weeks, starting May 17th

In this 6 week course, participants will learn a unique approach to watercolor, intended to alleviate the frustration that many experience when learning this beautiful yet challenging medium. The class will focus on strengthening one’s observational skills, giving the artist a foundation off of which to build their paintings in a step by step layering process, that trains the artist to see value and color

Our subjects will be flora and fauna – a sampling of plants and animals – fruits, florals, foliage, and four legged friends. These subjects are great for beginners and experienced watercolor painters alike; their organic shapes make them forgiving drawing subjects, but their beauty can be a muse for life.

This class will work from life and from photos, practicing basic drawing skills in addition to watercolor technique. With six class sessions, participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills and build muscle memory with a medium that often feels like it has a mind of its own.

Watercolor Fundamentals Part 1

This class focuses on the simple delight of mixing color with water, brushing it on paper, and watching what happens as it moves and dries. You will learn easy ways to create paintings that are all about color and the sometimes unpredictable nature of water.

No drawing skills are needed.

In this class we will explore the basic principles of watercolor painting. Learn or refresh your understanding of brush handling, brush care and setting up, the benefits of “good paper”, watercolor lights and darks, flat and graded washes, wet-on-wet techniques such as charging, wet-on-dry techniques such as glazing, color wheel, color theory, color mixing, and more. Simple applications of these techniques invite you to experiment and play.

This class is designed for adults 18+

Brushes, palettes, set-ups, and paint will be provided.
There will be a materials fee of $15 plus tax for the series.

Classes start the first week of each month and are ongoing. All styles welcome. No experience needed for Beginner Class.

Classes meet once a week 4 times per month. Join in the first week of any month for a minimum of 4 sessions. Students can continue with once a week lessons learning more skills each month.

Reasonable and sliding scale monthly or quarterly fee. Vaccination for indoor class required. Small classes fill quickly. If class is full you can be on the waitlist.

Beginning and Intermediate Classes –

THURSDAYS 11:30-21:30 OR WEDNESDAYS 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
On-going; 4 sessions per month.

Paint still-life, flowers, birds, landscape, seascape, animals, portraits and more.

Easy to learn new skills or improve techniques. Learn color mixing, blending, creating texture, glazing, perspective, shadow, light and volume. Enjoy connecting with others to discover your innate talent.
